Linking purpose

In order to provide clients with up-to-date information, and to ensure the consistency and accuracy of online client information, the Office of State Revenue (OSR) has developed the following policy to advise external organisations when, and under what circumstances:

  • they may include a link from their website to the Homebuyer website
  • they may use the Homebuyer logo on their website or download the logo for use in printed material
  • they may use information posted on the Homebuyer website
  • they may copy information used on the Homebuyer website.

Policy

This policy applies to:

  • links to the Homebuyer website from an external website
  • the use of the Homebuyer website on an external website
  • the use of information on the Homebuyer website by an external organisation
  • copying of information from the Homebuyer website by an external organisation.

The Homebuyer website include the:

  • Homebuyer website (www.homebuyer.nsw.gov.au),
  • and any other site directly controlled by OSR.

Requirements for linking to the Homebuyer website

We encourage relevant organisations to create links to information on the Homebuyer website as appropriate, however, you are advised to comply with the following guidelines:

Link to the home page, rather than a specific subpage

As many of the subpages on the Homebuyer website are subject to change, we advise that you link directly to the homepage of the relevant Homebuyer website. If you do create a link to a subpage, we strongly recommend that you check these links on a regular basis to ensure the page is still in use.

Link to take clients directly to the Homebuyer page

Any links to the Homebuyer page should forward the client directly to the Homebuyer website. Homebuyer pages should not be opened within a frame in your own website, or otherwise present the information as being a part of your site.

Use of the Homebuyer logo

Under no circumstances should an organisation use the Homebuyer logo on their website or download a copy of the Homebuyer logo for use in printed material without permission from us.

Use of logo on external websites

The only time when the Homebuyer logo may be used on a non-Homebuyer site is where we have a business partnership with another organisation, such as a Client Service Provider (CSP). In this case, the organisation in question must:

  • apply to OSR's Manager, Communications for permission to use the logo. Requests should be forwarded emailed to Attn: Manager, Communications
  • communications@osr.nsw.gov.au
  • meet our corporate identity requirements regarding use of the logo. These will be supplied on request.
  • submit a copy of the proposed layout including the Homebuyer logo to the OSR Manager, Communications for approval before using the logo on a live site.

Note: we reserve the right to request removal of the logo from an external website at any time.

Use of logo in printed material

If you wish to obtain a copy of the Homebuyer logo to use in a report, proposal or other similar document, please contact us to obtain permission and for a high resolution version of the logo.

Copying and use of Homebuyer material

Reproducing information from the Homebuyer website on your website

Under no circumstances should you incorporate information or applications from the homebuyer website within your own website. We are unable to review and verify information posted on external sites. To ensure your clients have access to the most up-to-date information available, we strongly advise that your website contains a link to the homebuyer website.

Reproducing for personal use

You may reproduce any material which Homebuyer creates and displays on the Homebuyer website for personal, in-house or non-commercial use. If you wish to reproduce, alter, store or transmit the material for any other purpose, please contact us.

Reproducing for uses other than personal use

If you wish to reproduce information on the Homebuyer website for commercial purposes, you must first obtain permission from us. If you plan to alter the material in any way from its original format (eg. include your company details, alter or rearrange text) a copy of the final document must be approved by us before it can be circulated.

If permission is granted to use material from the Homebuyer website, all material reproduced from the website should clearly state:

  • the name of the agency (eg. Office of State Revenue, State Debt Recovery Office, etc),
  • the relevant Homebuyer website address,
  • the date the information was copied from the site, and
  • a disclaimer stating that your organisation is not endorsed by us and that clients should check the relevant Homebuyer website to obtain the latest information.
