Senior's Principal Place of Residence Duty Exemption

The Senior's Principal Place of Residence Duty Exemption under the NSW Home Builders Bonus scheme has been extended to persons between 55 and 65 years of age.

The exemption from duty for new housing purchases is available to persons in that age range in respect of agreements or transfers entered into or occurring on or after 1 July 2011 and before 1 July 2012.

Senior buyers

The NSW Government's Home Builders Bonus provides a specific exemption for eligible seniors purchasing a new home as their principal place of residence (Seniors Principal Place of Residence Exemption).

The NSW Government’s Home Builders Bonus provides full exemption on stamp duty for new homes where the value does not exceed $600,000 and building has not commenced. It also applies to vacant land up to $400,000.

For homes already under construction, stamp duty has been reduced by 25 per cent.

The NSW Home Builders Bonus is available to everyone, including investors, who purchase a new house or apartment.
